What is an escape room?
An escape room is a real-life puzzle experience where you and your team are placed in a themed room and given 60 minutes to find clues, solve puzzles, and complete the mission. Everything you need is inside the room. No special knowledge or skills required.
How many people do I need to play?
Most of our rooms take 2 to 6 players, with Helter Skelter fitting up to 8. We find 3 to 5 players is the sweet spot. If you have a bigger group, you can book multiple rooms and race each other.
Are we actually locked in the room?
You are free to leave the room at any time. A game master monitors your session from start to finish, and can open the door whenever needed. Safety is never compromised.
What happens if we get stuck or can't escape in time?
Your game master can give you hints through a screen in the room if you need a nudge. If you run out of time, they will walk you through whatever you missed so you can see how close you got.
Is it scary?
Helter Skelter has a suspenseful, thriller-style atmosphere and is recommended for ages 16 and over. Our other rooms are puzzle-focused and suitable for all ages. None of our rooms use live actors or jump scares.
Will we be grouped with strangers?
No. Every session at Breakout is private. When you book a room, it is yours. You will only play with the people in your group.
What is the age limit?
Our rooms are suitable for ages 12 and over. At least two members of your group must be 15 or older. Kids aged 10 to 12 can play when accompanied by a participating adult.
Do I need to book in advance?
We strongly recommend booking online to lock in your preferred time. Walk-ins are welcome if there is availability, but sessions fill up quickly on weekends and public holidays.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear something comfortable. Closed-toe shoes are a good idea. You don't need to bring anything else. Phones and bags go into our secure lockers before your game starts.
How early should we arrive?
Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your booking. This gives us time to check you in and run through the briefing. If you are more than 20 minutes late, the session may be cancelled without a refund.
